How to Solve MCQs in Board Exams Without Losing Marks

MCQ answer sheet with one bubble filled in each row

MCQs look easy. That is why students lose marks on them.

Most wrong answers are not about knowledge. They come from rushing, misreading or filling the wrong circle.

Read the question twice

Watch for words like not, except and incorrect. One small word flips the answer.

Read all four options before choosing. Option A may look right, but option D may say both A and B.

Eliminate first

If you are unsure, cross out what is clearly wrong. Two options usually go fast.

Now you are choosing between two. Your odds just doubled.

Manage your time

Do not get stuck. Mark a hard MCQ and move on. Come back at the end.

Never leave an MCQ blank. Board MCQs have no negative marking in most papers, so a guess costs nothing. Check the instructions on your paper to be sure.

Fill the sheet carefully

  • Fill circles fully and neatly.
  • Check the question number before every answer.
  • Do not cut or overwrite. Cutting can cancel the answer.

Practise the real way

Practice MCQs at home with a timer. Use a full paper, not just random questions. That is how you build exam speed.

What should I do with an MCQ I cannot answer?
